Biography
The use of biochemistry allows us to explain physiological events at a molecular level and this insight offers the opportunity for the development of therapeutics for human disease. It is this perspective that has driven me along my career path to date. In this vein, I have pursued a research career focused on investigating protein function using structural biology and associated molecular biology and biophysical techniques to provide a mechanistic understanding in life and in disease and I have been fortunate to contribute to this understanding during my research. Outside of research, my interests extend to medical ethics, for which I am a member of the Imperial Clinical Ethics Committee. I am also a trustee for the organ donation charity, Live Life Give Life and am the creator of Art Transplant.
