Biography
Meinir Jones completed her PhD in immunology with Dr Frank Hay and Professor Ivan Roitt (FRS) at the Middlesex Hospital, London in 1982 working on autoimmunity. For several years she continued her work on autoimmunity at Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, Middlesex Hospital and St George''s Hospital Medical School, before moving to SmithKline Beecham to work on infection and immunity. In 1995 she joined the group of Professor Sir Anthony Newman Taylor working on occupational asthma and allergy at the National Heart and Lung Institute, now part of Imperial College London. Dr Jones'' current research interests are in understanding why some individuals develop occupational asthma and allergy whereas others remain healthy within the same working environment. In addition to her research she heads up the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Laboratory Service which is the only laboratory within the UK to provide a specialist service for occupational lung disease.
