Biography

I am Head of the Bioinformatics Data Science Group of Imperial College. The Bioinformatics Data Science Group is the new name of the Bioinformatics Support Service (since June 1st 2016). The group moved to the Department of Surgery and Cancer, Faculty of Medicine in 2015, from their original home in the Centre for Integrative Systems Biology and Bioinformatics in the Department of Life Sciences. The Bioinformatics Data Science Group works with researchers and post-graduate students across all College faculties, on all campuses. Our mission is to provide and co-ordinate world class research and training in bioinformatics within Imperial College, disseminate good practice and to provide state-of-the-art bioinformatics support to members of Imperial College for their research. Originally a wet-lab biologist (Cellular Immunology and then Virology), I moved into bioinformatics by joining Oxford University Bioinformatics Centre - which I later managed for 3 years. I took up my post at Imperial in 2002, to set up the Bioinformatics Support Service.
