Biography
Dr. Connolly undertook the majority of her cardiology training in Ireland and completed a PhD at University College Dublin in 2004. She then joined the Professor David Wood's academic research group as a research fellow in 2004 and was a member of the coordinating team for the EUROACTION study. She took up a Consultant Cardiologist post at Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospitals in 2006, now part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She has a special interest in cardiovascular disease prevention and rehabilitation and directs the Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation Service for the Trust and is the clinical lead for the MyAction Westminster preventive cardiology programme. In addition, she leads a module on cardiovascular risk factor management and cardioprotective drug therapies for the Imperial College MSc in Preventive Cardiology. She is a council member of the British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation and is also a member of the 3rd Joint British Societies Guidelines for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention in Clinical Practice writing group. She is also the UK National Coordinator for CVD Prevention for the European Society of Cardiology on behalf of the British Cardiovascular Society.
