Biography
Kim Hall joined Northumbria University as a Graduate Tutor in January 2016, working in the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing. After qualifying as a Nursery Nurse in 1984, Kim’s career began with setting up community provision for use by families of striking miners. Since then she has worked extensively with families in the community. Kim has worked for a number of years as an Early Year’s lecturer in Further Education. In 2010, Kim graduated from Northumbria University with a BA First Class honours in Early Years and Childhood Studies. She went on to take up a post with a national voluntary organisation, working closely with families. As part of the Training and Development team, Kim trained practitioners and volunteers, both inside and out of the organisation, working in the family sector. From 2012 to 2015, Kim helped to set up and run a project in the North East working with kinship care families.
Research Interest
Kim is in the early stages of her PhD study and is exploring the everyday lived experiences of adults and children living in kinship care families in the North East of England. Kim is also interested in exploring the assignment of language and the impact on positionality within the community and wider society.
