Biography
Lauren Birkbeck is a lecturer on the Equine degree courses (BSc (Hons) Equine Science, BSc (Hons) Equestrian Psychology and Sports Science, FdSc Sports Horse Management and Coaching), teaching both theory and practical sessions. Modules include: Optimising Performance, Analysis of Equestrian Performance, Equine and Human Sports Science, Equestrian Studies Project, Fundaments of Sports Science and Issues and Ethics.
Research Interest
Particular interest in rider analysis and performance, and the biomechanics of the horse-rider interaction. Lauren is currently working on computer modelling rotational falls as seen in the cross country phase of eventing. Opportunities to carry out postgraduate research towards an MPhil/PhD in the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences exist
