Paul Butterworth

Biography

Paul Butterworth is a Partner and Head of the Maritime & Shipping Practice, based in London. He has 23 years' experience of the maritime sector, ten of which have been in executive search. This builds upon a first career that saw him serving at sea, where he enjoyed two ship Commands in the Royal Navy. Mirroring the global nature of shipping, he works in both the UK and international markets. He has placed senior and operational executives and also non-executives and chairs, in many sub-sectors of the wider Maritime & Shipping industry, both in the private and public sectors. Paul is also a member of the global Oil & Gas Practice, focussing on the overlap with Maritime & Shipping in the Offshore sector. He trained at Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth and has an LLB (Hons) Law degree from the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. He is a Younger Brother of Trinity House, a Member of the Nautical Institute (MNI) and a member of the Shipping Professionals Network in London (SPNL). He is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights, sitting on its Nominations Committee, all of which affords him an extensive network throughout the UK and international maritime community.
