Biography
Dr. Edward Cleator is Vice President of Synthetic and Discovery Process Chemistry. Dr. Cleator joined Pharmaron in July 2016 with 15 years of experience as a process chemist. Before joining Pharmaron, Dr. Cleator held a position of Principal Scientist within the Department of Process Chemistry at Merck Sharp and Dohme. During his time at MSD he and his team were responsible for the development and synthesis in support of new clinical candidates through to PhIIb. This involved developing new synthetic routes and identifying innovative chemistry to solve pre-existing synthetic issues. Once solutions were identified the chemistry was validated in a pilot plant setting to prepare API to GMP standard. Dr. Cleator received his Ph.D. at the University of Liverpool (UK) followed by post-doctoral training at University of Cambridge (UK). He worked at several pharmaceutical companies and gained global industry experiences as well as representing process chemistry on cross functional and due diligence teams. He is an author/co-author of 52 publications and patents.
