Biography
Monica Maijo did her PhD in the University of Barcelona, Spain 2012, focusing on studying the (innate) immune response in animal models of lung inflammation and inflammatory bowel disease. Afterwards, in 2013 he moved to the Quadram Institute Bioscience where he worked in an European project focused on investigating the effects of long term dietary interventions in the inflammatory response of elderly people, under the supervision of Prof. Claudio Nicoletti. Currently, he is working on defining how metabolic regulators control the gut-liver axis response during health and in the onset of metabolic diseases. This knowledge will contribute to defining therapeutic targets to treat intestinal and liver conditions.
