Biography
"Mike spent twenty years in the field of social work, mostly residential child care. In terms of teaching Mike has an interest in the areas of child and adolescence development, attachment, family therapy and anti-discriminatory practice and valuing diversity. His work for CELCIS (the Centre for Excellence for Looked After Children in Scotland) involved providing advice and consultancy to individuals, teams and agencies working in the residential child care sector. Mike recently completed the CELCIS MSc in Advanced Residential Child Care at the Glasgow School of Social Work. His dissertation title was ‘The (In)visibility of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender issues in residential child care in Scotland.’ He is currently undertaking a PhD which aims to explore the 'Lived Experience of LGBT young people in residential child care in Scotland.'"
