Biography
Dr Paola Valerio SMBPF. MIAAP. BPC. UKCP reg. has fifteen years experience working in the NHS supervising Psychotherapists and Psychologists in outpatient psychotherapy and working as a Consultant Psychotherapist. She facilitates reflective practice groups for clinical and management teams in NHS, charity and business settings and has a private practice in London. She has extensive experience of running services for survivors of sexual and domestic abuse and also set up a specialist outpatient psychotherapy service for young adults. As Trust Lead for Domestic Abuse, she represented a large mental health trust on serious case review and domestic homicide panels. She was a core member of the South London branch of the Women's Therapy Centre. An undergraduate at Edinburgh university (M.A. hons), she has completed postgraduate training and studies at Surrey university (social sciences) and her doctorate in clinical science- Psychotherapy, at Kent university. She has been a visiting Lecturer in Psychotherapy at Regents' college, Surrey and Kent universities, the Tavistock and East London University and has taught widely in the NHS and on BPC and UKCP professional trainings. Currently she is convener for the Psychodynamic module teaching and supervising on the Psych. D (year 2)
