Siobhan Strike
Deputy Head of Department
Life Sciences
Roehampton University
United Kingdom
Biography
Siobhan's research includes study into the alterations made in performing movements as a result of altered musculoskeletal biomechanics. She researches the effect of ageing and the influence of physical activity on biomechanics and functional mobility. She also researches the design of protheses for and movement patterns of active lower limb amputees. Siobhan teaches on various courses including anatomy and human movement and biomechanics.
Research Interest
My main research interest is focussed on the biomechanics of amputee and, to inform the interpretation of results, non-amputee movement. Using motion and forceplate analysis I analyse the compensatory mechanisms used by amputees to produce movement. I also analyse the mechanics of the prosthesis with a view to enhancing the design of the prosthesis.
