Biography
His research focuses on the Savan-Seno Special Economic Zone in Savannakhet, Lao PDR. In my doctoral thesis ‘Reworking Territory, Assembling Scale: Labour’s Agency in Lao Border Manufacturing’ I analysed the role of workers’ agency in influencing the development of foreign-invested, light manufacturing industry in a border industrial enclave. I highlight the everyday spatial practices of workers and how these impact on wider processes of state territorialisation and regional economic integration initiatives. My current research interests focus on regionalisation, special economic zones, foreign investment, labour, and agrarian change especially in relation to the Greater Mekong Subregion programme in Lao PDR.
