Biography
I am interested in legal change and transformation and the ways in which globalisation acts as a facilitator of legal change. I focus on the financial systems of Arab state jurisdictions. I am particularly interested in the interplay between legal systems: the heterogeneous ways in which pluralistic legal systems interact in the global economy. The Arab states of the Middle East are very insightful in this regard since their legal systems are grounded in pluralistic approaches to lawmaking. The analysis of financial practices in these jurisdictions reveals aspects and patterns of legal change that sometimes resonate globally and others that evince mainly local characteristics.
