Biography
Robin is a researcher at the Institute focussing on the management and functioning of biodiversity in a range of Scottish ecosystems. He currently leads a workpackage, Functioning of Species, Habitats and Ecosystems, as part of the Scottish Government funded research programme on Environment - Land Use and Rural Stewardship. He is an Editor of Biological Conservation and a Subject Editor for Oikos. He is a Visiting Professor in the School of Biological Science at the University of Liverpool and an Honorary Professor in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Aberdeen. He is an author of over ninety refereed publications and numerous reports to government departments and statutory agencies.
Research Interest
His current research covers the following areas: The role of plant functional traits in ecosystem function, Long-term land use and biodiversity change on the Machair, Prioritisation of species and habitats for conservation, Upland management for biodiversity, and The impact of tree regeneration on moorland biodiversity.
