Tina Jennings

Biography

Dr Tina Jennings returned to St Antony's in 2007 as a Visiting Fellow of the Russian and Eurasian Studies Centre, having received her doctorate from the University of Oxford in 2005. She has enjoyed a long association with St Antony's, as a graduate student (MPhil, Russian and East European Studies), then as a doctoral student whilst living in Russia (DPhil, Politics, 2005). She received her undergraduate degree in Political Science and Russian from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Dr Jennings has recently returned to the UK after 12 years in Russia. From 1994 to 2001, she worked in investment banking in Moscow, initially with Credit Suisse First Boston, and then as Head of Research for Raiffeisenbank Austria. During this time, she published 'Improving the Environment for Foreign Investment' in Doing Business with Russia, Marat Terterov, Margie Lindsay and Adam Jolly (eds.), 2001. In 2001, she began her doctoral work in Moscow, focusing on oligarchic business groups and their relation to Russian power structures, which culminated in a study of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP). In Oxford at present, she is completing a book based on her doctoral dissertation, 'The Rise of State Corporatism in Russia'. Her research interests centre on contemporary Russian politics, the relationship between business groups and Russian political processes, and the Russian presidency, notably under Putin. Upon receiving her DPhil, Tina was appointed head of Sotheby's in the Russian Federation, establishing a business presence in Moscow for the fine art auction house. Research Interest

The position reflected her interest in Russian art of the 20th century, which arose from collecting Russian paintings during her years in Moscow.
