Biography
Hazel Screen joined QMUL to do her PhD in 1999, and having begun a lectureship post in 2004, is now Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Director of the Centre for Biomedical Engineering & Materials Research within the School of Engineering and Materials Science. She is also a member of the QMUL Institute of Bioengineering Prof Screen is also a Chartered Engineer and an active member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, involved in the North West London IMechE committee. Alongside her research interest in tissue structure-function, she is very interested in supporting student learning, and is currently holding a Drapers Teaching Fellowship at QMUL In her spare time, Prof Screen enjoys sports (particularly running) and also scuba diving and hiking. She has been fortunate to visit and dive some great locations around the world with her family, including Hawaii, Borneo, Thailand and The Caribbean.

Connective tissue mechanics, Multiscale mechanics, mechanical testing, tendon, heart valve, mechanobiology, tissue engineering, tissue diseases, overuse injuries.
