Biography
Bethany Usher joined Teesside in 2008 and has helped develop their learning and teaching and research in digital journalism and communications. She is an experienced journalist who has worked for regional, national and industry publications. Her current practice is primarily in digital campaigning and is underpinned by research into the field of the relationships between public persona and promotional performance and journalism. She has a leading role in learning and teaching for the school.
Research Interest
Bethany is currently working on her PhD thesis which explores the relationships between public persona and journalism and how that has helped formulate the articulation of self in modern society. Recent publications have explored how David Bowie used interactions with journalistic media as performance practice and how the constructs of the journalistic interview have shaped promotional performance of celebrities on Twitter.
