Biography

Rob's enthusiasm, motivation and passion for the nursing profession are unwavering, with almost thirty years’ experience he continues to support and facilitate teams in the quest for excellence in practice. In December 2010 Rob was awarded a Fellowship to the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Dublin (FFNMRCSI) for his significant contributions to nursing and the Higher Education Academy, National Teaching Fellowship (NTF) 2011 in recognition of his excellence in learning and teaching. Rob is Adjunct Professor University of Tasmania, visiting Professor Tehran University of Medical Sciences and previously visiting professor with Narh-Bita University, Ghana and Clinical Associate Professor with the Australian Catholic University, Brisbane, Australia.

Research Interest

Rob's main research interest is seeing research being utilized at a clinical level where nurses, midwives, nurse specialists and other Allied Health Professionals are equipped with the essential skills and knowledge to aid this process. Rob has shared and disseminated his work on nursing and practice development all over the world: Australia, United States of America, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Iran, Malta, Croatia and United Kingdom are to name but a few. Rob’s work and research focus broadly around three key areas; practice and professional development, healthcare governance [i.e. clinical governance and patient safety] and evidence-informed practice. Rob has published books and articles, offered numerous conference keynote presentations and provides consultancy and workshops to audiences on topics and research associated with his experience. Rob's current projects are associated with undertaking: ‘A feasibility study to develop and test a Cultural health Check (CHC) toolkit designed to assist healthcare workers and organisations in the provision of safe, compassionate and dignified care for older people’. Exploring healthcare students and their mentor’s awareness of mentorship and clinical governance as part of a local Continuing Professional Development programmes’.
