Gordon Adams

Biography

Gordon is a Lecturer in Singing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, specialising in Musical Theatre. Gordon delivers programme content for both the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Musical Theatre degrees and co-ordinates their audition processes. He designs and delivers audition preparation courses, lectures in Critical and Contextual Studies and coaches and lectures actors, singers, dancers and musicians in degree-level multi-disciplinarity. Gordon’s professional career spans most performing arts platforms. He studied violin and voice at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, before beginning work as a session artist at London’s Abbey Road Studios. He trained in Musical Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music, London and thereafter worked for many years in London’s West End. Gordon has helped create new work and revivals as an actor at the Royal National Theatre, where he received the prestigious first Lawrence Olivier Award for an Ensemble cast. He has also recorded plays for BBC radio, concerts and gigs for BBC television, and worked as a freelance backup artist. After realising that it was not only possible but professionally expedient to be able to sing everything from rock to opera, Gordon returned to Scotland in 2011 to join the Royal Conservatoire’s teaching staff in training our new generation of versatile performers
