Biography
Volatiles in magmas exsolve, are getting redistributed and redissolved during late stages of eruptions. Water heterogeneities can be observed along common textural features and can give insight into the formation of these textures and the timescales, temperatures, viscosities of magmas at different stages of the volcanic eruption. I combine field observations, geophysical measurements, experiments and analysis of physical and chemical properties of natural magmas to understand the mechanisms of volcanic eruptions.
Research Interest
Volcanology, physical and chemical properties of silicate melts and glasses, bubble growth and collapse, crystal growth, crack formation, textures and structures of lava domes, analytical techniques, imaging techniques in field – and experimental studies, water diffusion in magma, numerical modeling of diffusion processes, sintering of glass, surface physics of silicate glasses, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Volcanology, Structure-from-Motion...
