Simon Harding

Biography

I took up the post of Chair in Clinical Ophthalmology in 2008 moving from an NHS Consultant Ophthalmologist position at St. Paul's Eye Unit, Royal Liverpool University Hospital. As a clinical scientist my principle aim is to develop translational research in ophthalmology and vision science in Liverpool. I aim to achieve this through the recently established Department of Eye and Vision Science which I lead. However I see this as applying across the full range of research from basic science to health services research. I believe strongly in the successful link between The University and its partner organisations in the NHS and worldwide. I have developed a number of global partnerships including with the Universities of Hong Kong, Malawi and Valladolid.
