Biography
Born in Bolton, schooled in Lytham St Annes, BSc and PhD gained at University of Newcastle upon Tyne, employed at University of Nottingham for 40 years, now retired from full-time employment at the University. Director of Platelet Solutions, Ltd, a spinout company of the University of Nottingham.
Research Interest
main interest is in the contribution of blood cells, especially platelets, to haemostasis and thrombosis, and the development and testing of appropriate pharmacological or dietary interventions. Investigations of platelet function are performed using a wide range of experimental approaches. There is a particular interest in development of tests of platelet function that are easy to use and therefore are available for widespread use in healthcare. A spin-out company Platelet Solutions Ltd has been formed to facilitate this.
