Biography
Stuart Robson was one of four undergraduate programme directors who merged departmental undergraduate degree programmes following the merger between Civil & Environmental Engineering and Geomatic Engineering Departments. At undergraduate level he took a key role in redesigning the Geoinformatics degree course to incorporate a common first year and half of a second year with the existing Civil and Environmental undergraduate degree programmes. He has been joint leader on a one week 2nd year teaching scenario on the development of an off shore wind farm for the combined year two undergraduate cohort for the past four years. This scenario brings in experts from industry (RES and Arup) and augments undergraduate GIS skills. He has lectured on a two week undergraduate residential field course held in Wales for the past eight years, and undertook a successful academic redesign of the field course to reflect an increasing requirement for undergraduate skills in GIS and field engineering techniques for the combined student cohort. Prior to the departmental merger he led a one term course unit in “Measurement Design Strategies (Y2)” and contributed for three years to a similar sized unit “Measurement Systems (Y1)” which included a one week residential field course in Spain where undergraduate students worked in small groups to establish essential surveying capabilities and group skills. At MSc level he has designed, delivers and is responsible for MSc Modules in “Terrestrial Data Acquisition” and “Aerial Data Acquisition
