Biography

I joined the Department for Health at the University of Bath in September 2007. With scholarships by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation and the A.S. Onassis Public Foundation I completed my postgraduate studies at Loughborough University (MSc) and Bristol University (PhD).

Research Interest

Research is firmly based on public engagement and interdisciplinary collaborations with national agencies, national and international academics, policy-makers, primary care trusts, public health departments, service providers, local councils, volunteer organisations and charitable trusts. The long term goal of my research is to produce cost-effective methods for active lifestyle promotion in a range of health and community settings. I have attracted in excess of £3million in external funding from agencies such as the National Institute for Health Research (Public Health Research Programme), (Research for Patient Benefit programme); MRC (Lifelong Health and Well-being Initiative), (National Prevention Initiative), EPSRC, and European Commission (Framework V). Iam the Impact Director for the Department for Health. Externally, I co-direct the Active People and Health Life Expectancy Health Integration Team, I am a member of the Global Network: Our Voice:Citizen Science for Health Equity, a member of the Scientific Committee of the European College of Sport Science, and Associate Editor for the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity.
