Biography
Helen has a strong practioner background, she has spent over 20 years working at Director level in both Local and National Government. She has run a Social Services Department, worked on Policy Development supporting Government Ministers, and had responsibility for the Development and Training needs of the 1 million plus Local Government Workforce. She has also served as an elected Councillor and as Leader of a London Borough Council. At Inlogov Helen has led the development of the on line Postgraduate Programme offer. She led the development of the MPA and the transfer of the University’s MSc in Public Management to the virtual learning environment. She teaches modules on Leadership in Public Services, Strategic Management, Operational Management in Public Services, Commercialisation, Managing Services and Outcomes, Programme Management and Managing across the Political Interface.
Research Interest
Helen has researched and written about different approaches to using technology in education, and in curriculum design. Her current research interests concern operational management practices developing and being transferred into public services, including the commercialisation of public services. She has also in the past researched and written about the role and interface between politicians and managers.
