Biography
Dr Cian C. Murphy is Senior Lecturer in Public International Law. Prior to coming to Bristol he was Academic Co-Director at the Georgetown University-led Center for Transnational Legal Studies in London and taught at City University London, King’s College London, and UCL. He has been visiting lecturer on postgraduate degrees at NUI Galway and Queen Mary University of London, and at doctoral training centres at the University of Copenhagen and University of Oxford. He has also taught on the A4ID Law and Development Training Programme and is a member of the World Justice Project’s Rule of Law Research Consortium.
Research Interest
Dr Murphy's research and teaching interests lie in the relationship between collective power and individual rights and the role that law plays in that relationship. His current writing focuses on the dynamics of transnational law and their impact on legality and will lead to a monograph, Control Beyond the State, to be published in 2017.
