Biography
After graduating with an undergraduate degree was in Health Sciences with a minor component in Aromatherapy I successfully secured employment as a Clinical Aromatherapist in the West Midlands area. The role involved working with people living with HIV and AIDS, and employed by the Terrence Higgins Trust, local primary care trusts and social services. After moving to Lancaster in 2008 I began teaching on a complementary therapy degree at the University, and after enrolling on an MA in Education, I developed a keen interest in the social sciences. This interest has led to me now teaching social sciences on both the Working with Older Adults degree programme and on the Social Work programme. I am University Programme Lead for a validated programme at Blackburn College – both the FdSc and the BSc in Complementary Health Therapies. My keen interest in this field has allowed me to introduce many of the Nursing and Allied Health professional students to the potential role of Complementary therapies for health and wellbeing.
