Biography
I work between two programmes within the Institute of Education. Senior Lecturer on BA (Hons) Child and Youth Studies. This degree is practice based and explores the 0-19 sector from an education perspective. The FdA Children and Young Peoples Services reflects the changes to the Children and Young Peoples workforce and is a practice based foundation degree offering a choice of pathways that will enable students to gain theoretical knowledge underpinned by practical experience of working in the Children and Young Peoples Workforce
Research Interest
I have undertaken research looking at perceptions of parent partnership in light of government initiatives and legislation and how this is reflected in practice.My current research is exploring employability in Higher Education exploring what employability means for the student, academic staff and the workforce hopefully informing practice in module and programme development. My future research interest would be around my subject areas of: equality, cultural identity and aspiration embracing diversity through assessment and engagement Integrated multi-professional working in practice. Emotional intelligence - impact on engagement in learning and personal development.The areas identified as future considerations for research are informed by the challenges faced as a lecturer, a practitioner and parent.
