Biography
I studied Occupational Therapy at the University of Derby and I can honestly say that the course and the staff are excellent. Staff are very supportive and are dedicated to enabling all students to achieve their career goal of becoming a qualified, competent Occupational Therapist. Due to the welcoming department and great resources, my ambition was to join the Occupational Therapy team. I have been working at the University of Derby since 2013 having come from a full-time job working in forensic mental health. Since qualifying, I have had a number of jobs, both in physical and mental health. Initially a full-time member of staff, I moved to part time employment in 2016. Working Mondays and Tuesdays at the University permits me the opportunity to work as a senior Occupational Therapist in mental health during the latter part of the week. This, I believe, allows me to remain up-to-date with clinical practice and enables me to bring my teachings to life with 'real-life' examples. I have also been progressing with a Masters Degree in Behaviour Change, delivered by the Psychology department, which I am due to complete this in August 2018.
