Biography
A recent member of the School of Social Sciences, I am currently working on the development of a new undergraduate degree in Economics, Politics and Policy, as well as a new postgraduate degree in International and Comparative Public Policy. Prior to joining UEL in February 2016, I taught public policy at the MSc level at UCL, and comparative social policy to undergraduates at the LSE. In terms of research, I am primarily interested in the comparative study of how post-industrial societies deal with prevalent forms of labour market inequality. My PhD looked at how private-heavy pension systems can be reformed to offer more comprehensive and equitable coverage. My current research examines political attention to the phenomenon of labour market dualization; the effect of income inequality on individual tax preferences; and the extent to which labour market status affects political participation and social policy preferences. In both my teaching and my research, I draw on an interdisciplinary foundation of undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (Durham University) and Political Economy (LSE).
