Biography
Octavia trained as a midwife after a career as a literary agent. She completed a Masters in Clinical Research at King’s College London (NIHR Fellow) in 2015 and works as a Research Assistant on the NIHR-funded REACH Pregnancy Programme at City, University of London. In 2016 Octavia was seconded to the University of East London where she continues to work on the REACH trial of group antenatal care ('Pregnancy Circles'). At City, Octavia is co-module lead for the Level 7 module 'Innovations in maternity: Facilitating group antenatal care' and she has lectured at King's College London and City on topics such as homebirth, migrant women and maternity care and antenatal education. Octavia also works part-time as a community midwife and antenatal educator at King’s College Hospital where she wrote the Trust Homebirth guidelines. She is an RCM Learning Rep and runs a regular networking event promoting midwifery research and practice innovation at King's College Hospital.
