Biography
Dr. Alison Devlin joined the Unit in January 2016, as a Research Associate within the Complexity in Health Improvement Programme. Alison is working on 3 large Case Studies in public health in order to better understand aspects of context, mechanism and outcomes in relation to Transferability of complex interventions. Most recently, Alison worked in the Department of General Practice & Primary Care (University of Glasgow) on the evaluation of the “Delivering Assisted Living Lifestyles at Scale” programme which was a £37 Million UK-wide programme launched to develop and deploy a range of digital tools and services for self-care, health and wellbeing. These included a web-based portal (“Living it Up”); tailored Apps (e.g., “House of Memories” - dementia); personal health records (e.g.,”M-i plan”) and other Assistive Technologies to catalyse the role of digital tools in addressing the challenges posed by the aging population and to reshape Healthcare design/ provision in the UK. Before this, Alison worked on a multidisciplinary Research and Development programme “Inter-Life” funded jointly by the ESRC/EPSRC as part of the wider (£12.3 Million) UK-TEL programme. Alison led on two of the research strands: one using a qualitative design and one using mixed methods. The “Inter-Life” project was launched to develop flexible technologies as tools to foster life transition skills learning in young people.
