Biography
Frank has a social science background and obtained his PhD in sociology and social policy from the University of Newcastle. Before joining the unit in October 2011, he had been a researcher at the Universities of Newcastle, Stirling, Edinburgh and St Andrews and had also been a lecturer at Edinburgh. His research focuses on reducing socioeconomic inequalities in health and he has explored various aspects of this topic mainly through secondary analysis of existing data. Areas of particular interest are lifecourse influences on inequalities, the impact of employment on inequalities, social policy influences on inequalities and comparative studies of inequalities.
Research Interest
Reducing health inequalities between and within countries by tackling their socioeconomic causes. Socioeconomic and social policy causes of inequalities, employment as a cause of health inequalities, the lifecourse and the causes of health inequalities, causal analysis of health inequalities.
