Dr Unver entered the design industry when he started working for a UK based Industrial Design consultancy in 1995 as designer & CAD/CAM manager where he designed a number of consumer products including laptops, mobile phones, monitors, security & monitoring devices. In 1999, he was appointed as Senior Lecturer at the University of Huddersfield, teaching on BA/BSc Product Design, BSc Industrial Design and BA Transport Design courses. He was course leader for BA Industrial Design course for 5 years and also course leader for MA 3D Digital Design course for over 8 years. In 2013, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor by Higher Education Authority of Turkey (YOK). Recently, he has been appointed as a Principal Enterprise Fellow (Reader) at the University of Huddersfield, School of Art, Design and Architecture, Department of Architecture and 3D Design. He has been a member of Higher Education Academy (FHEA (2013-), and was a member of Institution of Engineering Design (AIED), (2013-2015) Dr Unver has 10 years industrial and over 20 years academic experience in Research and Development. As an Engineer the areas of responsibility included, machine tools, manufacturing technologies (turning, milling, grinding, CNC, CAD/CAM, building of cementing and brick machinery, press, forging steelwork machinery, moulding design and manufacture. During college education Dr Unver trained as manufacturing engineer before taking a Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After gaining BSc Mechanical Engineering in 1986, completing MSc in 1989 in Engineering & Computer Programming, he has worked as a Research Assistant for 4 years and then as a Lecturer for 3 years. After completing his PhD, he became Assistant Professor at the University of Cukurova, Turkey in 1994. Since starting at Huddersfield, he has produced over 100 research outputs. During this time he delivered Digital Technologies, Engineering and Manufacturing Technology, Project modules and opportunity to supervise students both undergraduate and postgraduate levels including running live projects with some of the top design companies consultancies including Rover, Nissan, Morgan, Jaguar, Bayer, DePuy: Johnson & Johnson, Paxman, FireUP, Kenwood). He has been involved in a number of highly valued research, consultancy design work involved in REF (Research Excellent Framework). He is keen on collaboration and have excellent relations with colleagues from other Schools within the University in addition to colleagues at the other Universities and top institutions such as Sheffield Hallam, De Montfort, Falmouth, Manchester, Plymouth South Bank, London and Bradford in UK.
