Research Interest
Host and bacterial responses during pneumonia, meningitis and COPD and during pathogen interactions with the external environment. The pathogens being studied are Streptococcus pneumoniae, Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Listeria monocytogenes. Development of new vaccines and drug treatments of pneumonia and meniningitis. The genetic basis of susceptibility to infectious diseases. Interaction of bacteria with epithelia, mucus and abiotic surfaces.
