Biography
Dr. Hong Wei had her first and master's degrees both from Tianjin University, China, and then her PhD degree from Birmingham University, UK. Her research interest covers most aspects of computer vision and its applications. She has been involved in various research projects, such as optical character recognition, criminal events detection, and automated border control. She has been supervising PhD students in the area of computer vision and pattern classification. Dr. Wei is the author/co-author of more than 60 refereed research papers and two text books. Her current research covers computer vision applications in remotely sensed data interpretation for environmental monitoring and precision agriculture, as well as biometrics in automated border control. Dr. Wei is the programme director of BSc Computer Science, BSc Computer Science with Industrial Year, and MSc Advanced Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science, University of Reading.
