Biography
Dr. Lucy Fletcher is currently working as a Teaching Fellow in Classics in the Department of Classics, University of Reading , United Kingdom. Responsibilities: Library Liaison Study Abroad Coordinator Areas of Interest: Dr Fletcher's principal area of interest is Plutarch's Parallel Lives. Her current projects include revising her PhD thesis to form a monograph entitled, 'Narrative and Biography in Plutarch's Parallel Lives' and co-editing, with Prof. Timothy Duff, a collection of articles on Plutarch and Herodotus. She is interested more broadly in ancient narrative literature, especially prose narrative. Teaching In 2017/18 she will teach for the following modules: Ancient Biography, CL3AB Prospects for Classicists, CL2PR Greek History, CL2CGH (seminars) Ancient Epic, CL2AE Ancient Greek 3, CL2G3 Approaches to Classics and Ancient History, CLMACAH (Literary Theory) Approaches to the Classical Tradition, CLMACT (Shakespeare and Plutarch) Background/Qualifications BA, MA, PhD (University of Reading) Dr Fletcher completed an AHRC-funded PhD in Classics at the University of Reading in 2015. She was supervised by Professor Timothy Duff and the topic of her thesis was Narrative in Plutarch's Parallel Lives. In 2013 she held a fellowship at the Library of Congress through the AHRC's International Placements Scheme. After completing her PhD, she worked for two years as Head of Classics at Kendrick Grammar school in Reading.
