Dr. Simon Peatman is currently working as a NCAS-Climate Research Scientist in the Department of Meteorology, University of Reading , United Kingdom. Research interests: Tropical meteorology • Indian summer monsoon • Intraseasonal variability (BSISO and MJO) • Tropical cyclones • Equatorial waves • Diurnal cycle • Maritime Continent Active research projects: • May 2017 to November 2017 – Forecasting Air-Sea Coupled Interactions in NWP of Atmospheric Tropical Extremes (FASCINATE) with Nick Klingaman as part of WCSSP SE Asia • March 2016 to June 2019 – Bay of Bengal Boundary Layer Experiment (BoBBLE) with Nick Klingaman Past research projects: • June 2014 to February 2016 – Fundamental Influences of Large-Scale Wave Dynamics on Tropical Weather Systems with John Methven and Steve Woolnough Teaching: • Autumn 2014, 2016 – MT24C (Numerical Methods for Environmental Science) practicals • Autumn 2017 – MTMA33 (Introduction to Computing) practicals Other interests: • I have presented sessions in courses for school children run by the LASAR project(Learning About Science And Religion) in the Institute of Education
