Biography

Dr. Simone Knox is currently working as a Lecturer in the Department of Film, Theatre & Television, University of Reading , United Kingdom. Responsibilities: Director of Teaching & Learning (Film, Theatre & Television)  Module convenor of Popular Television Genres, Contemporary Documentary; Identity, Agency, Advocacy: Diversity and Representation in Film, Theatre & Television Areas of Interest: My main research interests lie in the analysis of television and film, especially: aesthetics and medium specificity, particularly the relationships between film and television, and convergence culture; as well as acting and performance; the transnationalisation of film and television, especially concerning issues of adaptation, and audio-visual translation (dubbing and subtitling); representations of the body and issues of identity, particularly representations of minority identity in television drama; the lived experience of screen culture, especially through the use of practitioner interviews.   Research groups / Centres: Centre for Television Drama Studies  

Research Interest

My main research interests lie in the analysis of television and film, especially: aesthetics and medium specificity, particularly the relationships between film and television, and convergence culture; as well as acting and performance; the transnationalisation of film and television, especially concerning issues of adaptation, and audio-visual translation (dubbing and subtitling); representations of the body and issues of identity, particularly representations of minority identity in television drama; the lived experience of screen culture, especially through the use of practitioner interviews.
