Biography

Dr. Weizi Vicky Li, Associate Professor of Informatics, Informatics Research Centre, Henley Business School. She is a Fellow of Charted Institute of IT (FBCS). She started her career as an entrepreneur in digital health solution from 2008 to develop information integration platform for major hospitals in China. Sinldo Information Technology (Beijing) was founded since then and keep growing and expanding fast both in products (e.g. mobile) and market (one of the digital health market leader in China). Vicky started to work in UK since 2011 as the system and policy analyst in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, for the development of integrated research governance system in the largest NHS organization in North Wales. She now works in Henley focusing on the areas of digital health and digital leadership. She is actively involved in and leads projects with industries, through European commission, knowledge transfer partnership (Innovate UK scheme), and industry funded projects to provide digital solution to public and private sector. Her experience in the research and development of the knowledge based information system integration platform for seamless care process in digital hospital has been proven valuable. Her recent publications cover health informatics and healthcare knowledge management involving case studies in China and Europe. Weizi’s research places an emphasis on co-design methodology for the alignment of service and technology in knowledge based clinical pathway and systems design. She first coined the notion of semiotic interoperability recently, has been working in the area related to this topic for a number of years. She has achieved significant research outcomes in organisational semiotics. She has been engaged in research in organisational semiotics since her PhD when she applied semiotics in enterprise architecture research of systems for digital hospitals. She focused on the integration between business processes and information systems. Her PhD work extended the organisational semiotics to the development of integrated business and technological systems, and was later on adopted in more in 400 hospitals in China. She has been supervising PhD and MSc projects in semiotic interoperability of information systems for healthcare.
