Biography
Dr Xize Niu is Associate Professor within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton. Xize’s group is currently focused on scientific and engineering challenges in developing wearable/portable chemical sensors for healthcare and environmental monitoring, especially for real time and continuous detection of chemical variations in body or environmental fluids. The key research areas related are microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip, analytical chemistry and mechatronics. There are openings in his group for postdoctoral research and PhD studies. Applications are welcome.
Research Interest
Dr. Xize Niu is interested in engineering microfluidic devices for bioanalytical applications, such as handling tiny amount of liquid samples, and performing high throughput analysis for disease monitoring and diagnostics. Consequently his research covers: Microfluidics and lab-on-a-chip; MEMS, micro and nano technology; Drug screening, biosensors and microdialysis; Protein separation and identification, DNA sequencing; Fluid mechanics, chaotic mixing; Multiphase phase flows and droplets.
