Geometric group theory, large groups of homeomorphisms of low dimensional spaces (particularly the extended family of R. Thompson groups). Decision problems in algebraic structures (generally groups and monoids); eg. word problem, order problem, membership problem, congugacy problem, etc. Interplay between other fields and Group Theory (e.g., formal language theory, set theory, dynamics). Topological, symbolic, and sequential dynamical systems.
