Biography
He obtained a "Diplom" (~MSc) in geology from the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz, Germany. During his studies he focussed on hard rock geology. For his final mapping project he spent a month in the Lewisian of NW Scotland, which sparked his interest in Archaean earth geology. However, for his diploma thesis he went to the other end of earth's age spectrum and investigated the petrology and geochemistry of a small set of Tertiary lamprophyre sills from Turkey. At the same time, he continued working in the Lewisian.
Research Interest
focus on the behaviour of zircon and its various isotopic systems during the process of intracrustal differentiation.
