Biography
I joined the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE) in 1994 after completing a first degree in Applied Biology and Geography at Salford University and a PhD in Agricultural Botany at the Queen's University of Belfast. As an undergraduate I spent a year working for the Department of Agriculture for Northern Ireland at a plant testing station. Since joining UWE I have held a variety of teaching and management roles at both a faculty and departmental level. Currently I teach habitat management and conservation but have in the past taught on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate physical geography courses. In addition to teaching, I supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students. From 2003 to 2015 I was the head of the Geography and Environmental Management department and responsible for the provision of a range of disciplines; geography, environmental management, transport and civil engineering and planning. Currently I am the Associate Dean for Learning, Teaching and Student Experience in the Faculty of Environment and Technology. I am a member of the Executive of the Committee of Heads of Environmental Sciences and in 2016 I will take on the role of Chair of this Committee.
