Biography
Elwyn worked as a hybrid keeping a foot in industry whilst also lecturing part-time from 1985. Initially this was in Further Education on BTEC, HND/HNC and Professional courses such as the Institute of Exports, Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply and Institute of Credit Managers. Having completed his MA in Marketing in 1998 while working as a business consultant he moved into Higher Education lecturing on a part-time basis. From this he joined what is now the University of Winchester in 2004 as a member of the team delivering the professional qualifications of the Chartered Institute of Marketing through evening study classes. This led to an expanded contract over time within the Business and Sports departments, before joining Sport on a full-time basis from July 2009.
Research Interest
His research interests are Student satisfaction with electronic book resources (e-books) – a Student Fellowship Scheme was awarded as the first step in this A three year study into effective group work has been completed and the substantial findings are in the process of being formalised. This led logically to a follow up project to investigate what assessment methods students actually want. To work with regional Football Associations to understand and support the needs of the member clubs and leagues in obtaining new sponsorship, understanding what they need to do for their part to secure and maintain a positive relationship with sponsors To investigate how grass roots clubs manage – much is given over to coach development, but a lot more is needed to run a club of any size Joint research to look at the impact of crowd density – initially in football As part of preparation for a proposed Masters level degree in Sport Sponsorship and Marketing, bids will be submitted for funding in this growing and important area if opportunities arise.
