Biography
As an applied researcher I have over 20 years of experience of teaching psychology and developing and conducting research that aim to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. My primary areas of teaching having included intellectual and developmental disabilities, health psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, individual differences, research methods, investigative psychology, forensic psychology and victimology. I also coordinate the Wolverhampton Applied Research Group (WARG) and the Wolverhampton Intellectual Disability Network (WIDeN) Special Interest Group.
Research Interest
My primary research focus is on the empowerment, wellbeing, communication and life course of people with intellectual disabilities. My research work has concentrated on the health and social wellbeing of people with intellectual disabilities at different life stages. I have also been involved in a number of multidisciplinary collaborative investigations into the impact and effectiveness of interventions for people with intellectual disabilities and those who support them.
