Biography
I have worked in secondary schools as a classroom ICT/English Teacher, an Assistant Head of Year, a Head of ICT Department, ICT Co-ordinator, Head of ICT and Business Faculty, and Assistant Headteacher (twice in different schools). Teaching and management have both been graded as ‘Very Good’ in different Ofsted inspections. I joined the University of Wolverhampton in September 2006 as a Senior Lecturer and Pathway Leader for Secondary ICT Initial Teacher Education. At university level our course was graded as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2007 and 2010. In January 2014 I joined our Education and Inclusion Studies team within our Institute for Education. I have consulted with the Department for Education on the development of Initial Teacher Education programmes within the new subject of Computing and the National Curriculum for Computing 2014. I co-authored the Accredited Skills for Industry’s (ASFI) new qualification for ‘Computing for Teachers’ – the only Ofqual approved qualification of its type in the UK. I have extensive experience of developing online learning through the use of Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs), and have a particular research interest in developing high quality online dialogic learning.
