Biography
Before joining the University Alison taught in secondary schools for fifteen years. Her subject specialism being Design and Technology. Whilst in school Alison also had the responsibility for coordinating the schools PSHE programme and then latterly leading and managing a large Design and Technology Faculty. During this period Alison also worked for the exam board, OCR; her involvement included developing GCSE and Entry level qualifications and delivering CPD courses to teachers, this work led to a six month secondment as a Design and Technology subject officer. Since joining the University, in 1999, Alison has undertaken a range of roles successfully. She developed and managed the Design and Technology ITE Programme which was awarded Outstanding by OFSTED (2001). During this time Alison built her profile within the field of Design and Technology by writing school text books and becoming an active committee member of DATA. The success in the role as subject leader has led to Alison moving into various management roles within the Institute of Education.
