Biography
Gill taught in 3 primary schools within Birmingham L.A. before seeking employment in Higher Education. She was initially appointed to University of Worcester in 1999 to teach on the Primary mathematics part of the undergraduate and PGCE courses. In 2002 she was appointed as the primary undergraduate mathematics co-ordinator, which involved taking a lead in planning, delivering and evaluating the mathematics element of the course. She was also appointed as Regional Partnership Co-ordinator. She was responsible for training school based staff in mentoring skills and resolving issues in partnership schools in Bromsgrove, Redditch, Droitwich, Sandwell and Birmingham. In 2006 she moved to a full time post at another University. She was the Cluster Leader for primary mathematics which had responsibility for both the undergraduate and PGCE mathematics aspect of the course. She was also the module leader for the PGCE Masters module which combined English, mathematics and science. She took the lead in designing the assessed components of this module and she provided the support for writing at Masters level. Since joining Higher Education she has also taught on Professional Studies, ICT and child development modules. Gill Woods is the Module Leader for the Pedagogy and Management module, a core element of the PGCE course. She is also the PGCE Placements Manager and is heavily involved in working with the partnership of primary schools.
